Brief
Our logo will incorporate your knowledge of the project and it's creators having fully researched its origin. We also need to consider carefully the market and or social context to which it belongs (e.g. music genre, locale, etc.).
Once we have developed and designed an effective logo we need to demonstrate how this will appear on at least 2 deliverable elements (e.g. Poster, packaging, CD, advert, website, etc.).
While looking through Kickstarter these are a few projects I was attracted to:
Obi - A Smart Laser Toy for Cats
This is a product designed to entertain your cats, like a red laser pen. "Obi is a simple and beautiful device that sits on a shelf or mantle in your home. When activated, it shoots a laser, something most cats (and some dogs) go wild for. Using your iPhone or iPad, you can control the laser manually, or set it up in automatic mode, where you can customise the way Obi behaves."
I was drawn to this just because I have cats and use a normal red laser pen, I also like the minimal design of the product. Also the logo (seen on the app in the third image) isn't very impressive, it's purely type based with the 'o' being bigger than the rest. I think this logo and the musky colours they have used for the app look a little dated and don't reflect the modern aesthetic of the actual product.
I like the idea for this and think it could be quite successful as healthy food is getting more and more popular. However the brand is already quite well designed and suitable for it's target audience.
"Fed up with politicians? Now your dog can get fed up with these Boneheads too. Dog biscuits with integrity."
Boneheads
I like this product because not only do they have a good ethos behind it, but its humorous too. It also appeals to me because their branding isn't very successful currently, this means I could do a total re-brand and hopefully make their brand more successful.
Radiko - Furniture With Interlocking Assembly Solutions
"We design and manufacture furniture for contemporary living. We have developed interlocking assembly solutions."
This product and brand really appeals to me as I like how easy to ensemble the flat pack furniture, I also like the shapes they use for the wood. The branding for this product isn't bad, but it isn't good either. The logo is purely type in a typewriter typeface in green, which I don't think reflects the sleek, clever style of the brand.
