The pastel colours for the website have been chosen around the album artwork to compliment it, these colours have a calming effect on the viewer which reflects Devendra Banharts folk, chilled style of music.
Due to the colours being so light this creates slight problems with the legibility of the type, as the white against the pastel blue isn’t a very big contrast. However, as Devendra Banhart has his own fan base this not the kind of website which will have a lot of casual viewers, meaning the fans which will be visiting the website will be prepared to work slightly more to read the information, therefore the text doesn’t have to be the most legible.
The hand rendered typeface brings a human element to the digital screen. The organic, wobbly lines disrupt the image, creating a contrast and breaking up the clean artwork behind as well as the simple aesthetic of the website.
The mock ups have been made to see what the finished design would look like in real life, this made seeing if everything considered was appropriate, such as the type size of the body text and titles, as well as the arrangement and layout.
