OUGD504 / Studio Brief 02 / Logostarter / Final

1

This is the finished final logo (1). This is actually the previous logo which was designed before a crit, it was suggested that either both the R and K should be open, or closed with a line going through the R also. Resulting in this being the final design instead (both letters closed) (2):

However, as this is an Italian company, after showing my dad (he's italian), he pointed out that the name Radiko is a play on words, 'radica' means wood (burwood) which is what the furniture is made from, and 'dico' means 'to say', conveying a personal, bespoke message, having connotations of that the furniture is yours. Having these two words being put together for the name of the company it is important for the letters to be as clear as possible so that the audience (mainly italian) pick up on the message straight away, and having the R closed up (in logo 2) results in the the logo being less legible, as the R is slightly harder to read.

Therefore for the final logo design logo 1 has been chosen, as the R is a lot more recognisable (found out due to asking various people what one is more legible), leading to understanding the play on words a lot easier, which is important to the company.
