The content of the book itself is printed on an ink jet printer, this is different from the mock up which was on a laser jet printer. The quality of the images have improved greatly in comparison to the mock up, where the colours where faded and the photographs pixelated.
The size of the book was chosen to be A5 as the aim was to create something which looked practical and journal like, relating to the nature of festivals, having to pack smaller and miniature versions of things to fit in a suitcase.
To bind the book by stitching with an open spine, measurements of where every hole was going to go had to be made and then repeated on every page individually as when all of the paper is stacked up together it is too thick, making it unable to puncture all the holes in one go. Therefore by using a ruler and pencil and dividing the length of the book up it allowed each hole to match up throughout all the pages. After this the thread was sewn in and out of the pages once going down and once up to ensure it was secure, tying a knot at the end. The string has been left hanging at the bottom in an attempt to imitate a festival wrist band, with the tassel hanging off the wrist.
