OUGD505 / Studio Brief 01 / Licence To Print Money / Bristol Pound

Bristol have their own currency which I thought was interesting and relevant to this brief. The Bristol Pound is the UK’s first city wide local currency, the first to have electronic accounts managed by a regulated financial institution, and the first that can be used to pay some local taxes.

The Bristol Pound is run as a not-for-profit partnership between the Bristol Pound Community Interest Company and Bristol Credit Union.

'Love Bristol? Go Local! Support your high street and strengthen your community by spending Bristol Pounds with hundreds of independent, Bristol-based traders.'
The designs are by the people of Bristol - a competition was held with hundreds of entries received from school children, students, professional designers and amateurs.
Each of the winning designs captures something of Bristol’s character.

The £5 appeals to me most due to the fluorescent pink colouring, as well as the illustration as it represents Bristols graffitied image well.
