The background went well went screen printing, however when screen printing the '£5' in gold or silver, the paint wasn't thick enough so it was very faint. By mixing in yellow to the gold this colour was made, which is more yellow than gold but stands out a lot better.
To emboss these I made a cut out of the '£5' with the laser cutter, wet the note quickly, lined it up and put it through the press. This way of doing it was not successful because as the paper was thin, the tracing paper (put in between the cut out and banknote) stuck on to the note. Wetting the paper also made this worse. A lot of different ways were tried (not wetting the paper, loosening up the press) however none worked successfully.
Lastly a hand held embossing tool was used and worked successfully. The embossing isn't very prominent but comes out just enough to make the £5 stand out more.
